Our Story

We started with a problem we could

not ignore.

Plastic waste is one of the most serious environmental problems of our time — and packaging is a large part of it. Outin exists to replace the plastic tray, the foam insert and the blister pack with packaging grown from plants.

01 · Environmental Status

Plastic is everywhere — even where we would never expect it

Microplastic debris has already reached places no clean-up crew will ever get to. These two photographs show where it ends up.

Plastic waste accumulates far faster than it can be collected or recycled.

Marine life takes in the debris long before it reaches a shoreline.

Plastic pollution has become one of the most serious environmental problems in the world today. Microplastic debris can now be found in nearly every ecosystem — from the snowpacks of the Arctic and the highest peaks of Mount Everest to the deepest depths of the ocean floor.

Under a shared consensus on green, sustainable development, the future of our planet is once again connected. Green protection and sustainable development are not only a trend, but a reform we are all about to face together — and consumers are paying more and more attention to environmental issues, with the sustainability of packaging now a major focus.

Packaging is judged the moment the box is opened — and again when it has to be thrown away.

02 · The Shift

The market is moving — and packaging is where it shows first

Three forces are pushing plastic out of the box. They arrive at different speeds, but they all point the same way.

Consumers

Buyers Are Asking

What is this packaging made of, and what happens to it afterwards? Sustainability has become part of the purchase decision, not a bonus on top of it.

Regulation

The Rules Keep Tightening

Plastic restrictions are spreading across major markets. In the EU, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (EU) 2025/40 is now in application, with further requirements phased in to 2040.

Brands

Packaging Becomes the Promise

What a brand ships in is now part of what it claims to stand for — and a supply-chain decision rather than a last-minute purchase.

03 · Our Answer

Instead of molding plastic, we mold fiber

Outin supplies molded pulp packaging — also known as molded fiber — designed around your product and made to be recycled rather than discarded.

A molded pulp insert formed around the product it protects.

Molded pulp is made from recycled paper and renewable plant fibers such as sugarcane bagasse and bamboo. The fiber is formed into trays, inserts, clamshells and boxes that hold a product exactly where it should sit.

In the hand it feels firm, rigid and board-like — closer to a well-made paper product than to foam — and it can be recycled in paper and cardboard streams where those facilities accept it. For many applications it replaces expanded polystyrene, plastic blisters and single-use foam entirely.

Because the shape is molded to your product, protection comes from the structure of the packaging itself, not from extra material wrapped around it.
